Faith and Wisdom for a Purpose-Driven Life

Joy Miller and Ron Cuchna, a couple known for their commitment to faith and lifelong learning, have announced the release of their first collaborative book, The Joy of Godly Decision Making. This thought-provoking guide provides readers with practical tools and spiritual insights to make decisions grounded in biblical principles.

Miller and Cuchna’s book seeks to empower individuals at every stage of life—from young adults navigating early career choices to retirees seeking fulfillment in their later years. With its focus on aligning daily decisions with faith, the book offers timeless lessons for readers facing the challenges of modern life.

“We want readers to realize that faith-based decision-making can transform not just their choices, but their entire outlook on life,” says Joy Miller.

A Life Rooted in Faith and Global Perspectives

Joy Miller’s journey began in a secluded rural religious community, where her formative years instilled a deep sense of faith and simplicity. However, her life took a dramatic turn when she moved to Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1967.

During nearly two decades in South Africa, Joy navigated the complexities of the sophisticated, cosmopolitan Johannesburg society in the era of apartheid. Despite the challenges, she rose to prominence as a speaker and leader for organizations such as Stonecroft Ministries and Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru). Her work included administration, seminar leadership, and training, earning her a reputation as a sought-after figure in international faith-based outreach. She returned to the United States in the mid-1980s.

Joy and her husband Ron share a commitment to service. From operating a Bed and Breakfast in Iowa to traveling extensively, including a mission trip to Russia, their diverse life experiences laid the groundwork for their writing.

Finding Purpose Through Creativity

A major health challenge became a pivotal moment for Joy. Following a life-threatening brain surgery, she reevaluated her priorities and embraced a creative calling. So it was that, during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, she developed her artistic talent, creating stunning paintings of florals, landscapes, and portraits that reflect her connection to God’s creation. She is currently working on painting the iconic Donald Trump “Fight-fight-fight” photograph.

For Joy and Ron, creativity has become a powerful tool for expressing their faith and encouraging others. Their collaboration on The Joy of Godly Decision Making emerged from this renewed sense of purpose. The book synthesizes their experiences, offering readers practical guidance for making decisions that honor both God and their personal values.

Wisdom for All Generations

The Joy of Godly Decision Making addresses universal challenges such as career decisions, relationships, and retirement planning. By focusing on the spiritual aspects of decision-making, the book transcends generational divides, offering guidance to readers from young adults to seniors.

The book also reflects the couple’s commitment to leaving a lasting legacy for their grandchildren. “We wrote this book with our grandchildren in mind,” Ron explains, “but we quickly realized its principles would resonate with anyone seeking clarity and purpose in their lives.”

Through relatable anecdotes, scriptural references, and actionable advice, Miller and Cuchna guide readers toward a deeper understanding of how faith can shape their decisions and overall life direction.

Inspiring Readers to Embrace Purpose

Now retired and living in the scenic Appalachian foothills of North Carolina, Joy and Ron continue to inspire others through their writing and creative pursuits. Their story demonstrates that faith and purpose can thrive at any stage of life, especially during retirement.

The couple hopes their book will challenge readers to live intentionally, make decisions with God’s guidance, and pursue a life of productivity and spiritual fulfillment.

“Our goal is to show readers that God’s direction isn’t limited to major life decisions—it can and should influence every aspect of daily living,” says Ron Cuchna.
